ASL Tournament at Conquest '99
- Competitor Categories:
- Cadre: Players who are willing to
volunteer to
teach new ASL players the game can volunteer to be a "cadre" tournament
player. When playing a "recruit" tournament player the Cadre
player
will automatically score "cadre" points towards tournament scoring instead
of the usual win/loss points; during all other rounds the Cadre
player
scores normal win/loss points. Cadre players must have the
patience
and desire to teach new players of ASL as well as provide all playing
materials.
- Recruit: A new player to ASL who
has
played less
than two games before. A "recruit" is not required to furnish
playing
materials, but is eligible to score win/loss points in the tournament.
- Trooper: A "trooper" is eligible
for
normal win/loss
points in the tournament and must be able to provide play materials.
- Format: unstructured, with
mutually agreeable
scenarios and four rounds required to qualify for tournament
standing.
Rounds can be played 24 hours a day in any location agreeable to both
players.
- Scoring:
Cadre vs. Recruit Round: The Cadre player
scores
3 points, the Recruit scores normal round points.
Normal Round: 3 points for a win; 1 point
for
a loss; 0 for a concession. - Schedule:
The tournament starts
at 18:00,
Friday, 3 September. A dedicated tournament table will be set up
so that you can meet opponents and have the tournament organizers
available
for questions at certain times. Tournament organizers will be
available
at the dedicated Conquest/ASL Tournament table at the following times:
